About me

Sabrina Noll, Professional Counselor, Therapist, Counseling Kansas City, Help with my teen

I am Sabrina Noll and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Kansas. I was born and raised in Europe speaking English, Spanish, Norwegian, and Danish. I went to high school in Massachusetts and college in Pennsylvania at Gettysburg College. I have a Bachelors Degree in Psychology with a double minor in Chemistry and Philosophy. I met my husband in college and married him while in graduate school in Virginia. I graduated from Radford University with a Masters of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. Since graduating, I have experience working in intensive in home counseling where I counseled teens/tweens and families that were in crisis. I worked as a school based counselor working with tweens that were having behavioral issues in the schools thus affecting their ability to learn. Finally, I have worked in outpatient settings providing counseling to immigrant families, teens dealing with depression/anxiety, and teens/adults who have suffered trauma.

I had the chance to move to Kansas after graduating from graduate school and I love living here. I enjoy going on walks with my husband and dog, who is a very energetic puppy. I spend a lot of time cooking and looking up recipes during my spare time. All of these changes in my life have taught me some valuable lessons such as how to talk to new people  and how to be able to cope with change such as cultural, relationship, and job change.

I believe as a counselor I am here to listen to you, understand you, and give you tools so you can overcome your difficulties. I see counseling as a way of working closely with a confidential person that you trust to help you work through difficult and happy times in life.  I have created a counseling space near Lenexa and Shawnee that I believe will help you feel comfortable and safe. The space is where all the healing occurs so it is an area that needs to help you feel good so this office is specially designed with that in mind.

Coming to counseling can be a very difficult decision as you do not know the person you will be working with or how the process works. I look forward to hearing from you over a free phone consultation to answer any questi

Research

I have completed research with Social Psychologist Dr. Meier. We focused on the effect of eating chocolate vs crackers on happiness. The research shows that being mindful (so taking the time to enjoy the moment)  while eating chocolate increases feelings of happiness compared to when eating a cracker.  If you would like to read more about this research the article is below.

I have also done some research with Social Psychologist Dr. Barlett and we presented the research at a conference. We focused on the effect of popularity and strength of the provocateur on the aggression shown towards the victim. The presentation is under my maiden name.
